The global protection of historic towns equally implies activities of adapting the historic built environment to the demands of contemporary life, activities of heritage values protection and activities of acknowledgement from the society over the durable advantages connected to the enhancement of the historic areas. The volume includes the lectures of the 13^th edition of the Conference Series on Theoretical and Practical Issues on Built Heritage Conservation – TUSNAD, having as topic Global protection of historical towns. The lectures and the discussions were centred around the protection of historical towns, on a European level, as well as on a national level: the local concept of the European Capital of Culture 2007 – Sibiu, multicultural heritage, recent interventions on the historic centre of Sibiu etc.
