The Series Historic Buildings in Transylvania, launched in 1993, presents the most precious examples of Transylvanian built heritage connected to the Hungarian culture, with the purpose of drawing the general public's attention on values, heritage and our responsibilities towards these. The publications of this series are recommended especially to those who at present own or use such values, but also to those who are interested in history, architecture and the Transylvanian art.
Number 45 of the Series Historic Buildings in Transylvania presents the Lutheran Church in Sibiu, built in Gothic style in nowadays Huet Square. The parson of the church is mentioned in documentary sources for the first time in 1309. The church was built in several stages, the last construction works being finished around 1520. The building preserved important artistic values, such as the Gothic portals with Renaissance door leafs, the key-stones with figurative decorations, the bell from 1411, the font of master Leonhardus (1438), the mural inside the chancel depicting the Crucifixion, the organ from 1672 etc.
