In parallel with the famous annually International Conference Series TUSNAD, organised on the topic of built heritage rehabilitation, starting from 1997, a series on historic structures began to offer to specialists an opportunity to discuss major aspects regarding the resistance and the stability of historic buildings.

The masonry structures are present in most of the built heritage buildings: foundations, load bearing and non-load bearing walls, pilers, pilasters or vaults. The volume from 2001 includes the lectures given during the 5^th edition of the International Conference on Historic Structures, on Historic Masonry Structures, topic that perhaps illustrates the best the chaos, the multitude of unorganized information, from the area of masonry structures.
