In parallel with the famous annually International Conference Series TUSNAD, organised on the topic of built heritage rehabilitation, starting from 1997, a series on historic structures began to offer the specialists an opportunity to discuss major aspects regarding the resistance and the stability of historic buildings.

The volume from 2006 includes the lectures given during the 10^th edition of the International Conference on Historic Structures that took place in Cluj-Napoca in 2006, on the topic The Safety of Historic Load-Bearing Structures. This topic being part of the general problem regarding the safety of load-bearing structures, is of present interest for the durable management of built environment. Being mostly connected to the subjective premises of safety insurance, the historic structures need interventions for safety correction, in parallel with the preservation as complete as possible of their heritage values.
